The words that unlock the rest
These recur constantly in the transcripts. Each is defined in plain terms, with no jargon layered on top, and each is linkable: when an essay uses one of them without stopping to explain it, the link comes here.
6 words of the material
Every definition below describes a term the transcripts use, in the material's own sense of it rather than the popular one.
- The Law of One
- The material’s name for the claim that everything is one being, and that this is not a metaphor.
- Density
- A stage of consciousness rather than a place: first density is being, second is growth, third is self-awareness and choice. Human beings are described as third density.
- Catalyst
- Experience that produces a reaction and asks to be worked with. Not punishment, and not random: the raw material a person grows on.
- Distortion
- Not an error. The material uses it for any particular way the one thing appears: a lens. Free will, love, and light are named as the three primal distortions.
- Polarisation
- The direction a being accumulates toward, either service to others or service to self. Both are described as paths toward unity.
- Service to others
- A path oriented outward: the reality of the other is taken as given. Its failure mode is giving past the point of truth.
One word that is ours, not the material's
Kept here so the two are not confused, and marked so nobody has to work out which is which.
- Q'uo community term
- The name L/L Research gives to the source of the channelling that followed the Ra Contact, from 1984 onward. The word does not appear anywhere in the Ra Contact itself. Nothing on this site speaks as Q’uo: the study companion that answers questions here is software, it says so on its own page, and it holds no voice but the passages it quotes. Our sessions are not named after this source either. We call what we do the facilitation practice — a way of holding a room, not a claim about who is speaking.
A reader checking this against the source will not find it there, and that is the point of listing it separately rather than in the list above.
Why a glossary lives in the library
Because the essays are what use it. When one of them reaches for catalyst or polarisation it links the word rather than re-explaining it, which keeps the argument intact and the vocabulary in one place. A term defined in seven essays would be seven slightly different definitions by the end of a year.
These are not the material's only terms, and this is not a concept guide. It holds the words that a newcomer meets in the first hour of reading, and nothing else.
