The densities

The Ra Contact describes the unfolding of consciousness in densities: stages rather than places, each with a lesson that the next stage assumes. Nothing in the material depends on the reader accepting the map, but almost everything in it is phrased for someone who has one. So the map first, with a caution attached.

The caution is that a map is not the territory, and this map can easily become something to collect rather than something to test. Hold it the way you would hold a diagram of a garden you have not walked in.

One thing the material is careful about, and it matters before the list: the stages are described as a mechanism rather than a ranking. It says the vehicles of each density are necessary for growth, and then corrects the questioner who assumed they accelerate it.

Each mind/body/spirit or mind/body/spirit complex has an existence simultaneous with that of creation. It is not dependent upon any physical vehicle. However, in order to evolve, change, learn, and manifest the Creator the physical vehicles appropriate to each density are necessary.

The eight stages

First density. The density of awareness without a self: mineral, water, fire, air. Being, without any witness to it.

Second density. Growth and movement, the plant and animal worlds. Awareness of others begins, but the self is not yet a subject that can reflect on itself.

Third density. The density human beings occupy, and the material is blunt about its importance: it is the density of self-consciousness and of choice. Here a being can know itself, and can decide which way it will move. Everything in the material about service, catalyst, and polarisation belongs to this stage.

Fourth density. Love, or understanding. The material describes it as the first density in which beings share a single, joined conscious experience rather than communicating across a gap. It calls this a social memory complex.

Fifth density. Light, or wisdom. The material describes this stage and the next together, and describes neither as complete alone: the compassion learned in the fourth is blended into wisdom here, and in the sixth the wisdom is blended back into compassion.

Sixth density. Unity. The polarities that third density chose between are reconciled here, and the path that spent so long looking like two roads is seen to have been one.

Seventh density. The gateway cycle, in the material’s own phrase: the whole harvest of the octave turning back toward its source, toward the one it never actually left.

Eighth density. The octave completes, and, in the material’s own description, the pattern begins again at a level the material declines to speculate about.

The fifth and sixth are the two the material states in one breath, and the actual words matter. The sentence readers most often meet in their place — that wisdom without love goes cold — is not from this material. It comes from the L/L Research channeling that followed the Ra Contact, and it is a good sentence. It is simply not this one:

Fifth density is perhaps best described as extremely white in vibration. The sixth density of a whiteness which contains a golden quality as you would perceive it; these colors having to do with the blending into wisdom of the compassion learned in fourth density, then in sixth the blending of wisdom back into an unified understanding of compassion viewed with wisdom.

Why the map is useful

Two reasons, both practical.

First, it gives an ordinary life scale. If consciousness develops over stages far larger than one lifetime, then the significance of a person’s choices is not measured by their visible result. That is a generous idea, and it is a demanding one: it means the work is in the choosing, not in the outcome.

Second, it explains why the material refuses to grade people. Third density is the stage of choosing, and a choice is only a choice if it is genuinely a being’s own. A teacher who removes that freedom by deciding for someone has, in this model, removed the only thing the stage was for.

Where the map is easy to misuse

There are three misuse patterns we watch for in this community.

The first is hierarchy. Densities are stages of development, not ranks of importance. Nothing in the material supports treating another person as inferior because they appear to be at a different stage, and the assumption that one can see another’s stage at all is itself unsupported.

The second is prediction. The material’s statements about the movement between densities have been turned, by other readers, into dates and disasters. We do not teach them that way, and we do not make predictions about the world from this material.

The third is bypass. Learning a vocabulary can start to substitute for looking at your own life. If the map is doing that for you, put it down for a while. The practical essay on catalyst in an ordinary day is the correction we usually point to.
