Library Practices

The practices this community studies

The library teaches from the transcripts and reasons with the outside maps. This is the third thing it has: the practices themselves — what each is, what the material asks for, and what this community will not do with them — held here as rabbit holes through the essays that carry the work, so that reading about a practice stays the same act as reading about anything else: you go in through the practice and out through the material.

Three entries, and the one boundary running through them

One is the discipline the material returns to every session. One is a training the material gives one instruction for. One is a territory the material describes and this community refuses to teach. They are held in the same register deliberately: the refusal is a practice of the same standing as the other two.

  • Meditation

a discipline — the inner work the material asks for most often

The one practice the material returns to across every density and every question: silence that can be kept at will, and the self examination that makes the silence worth keeping.

  • Lucid dreaming

a training — the dream as the mind complex’s own territory

The dream is where the mind works without the day’s supervision. What the material offers for meeting it is not a dictionary of symbols but a single discipline of recall, kept immediately on waking.

  • Astral projection

a territory — described, and deliberately not taught here

The astral is the inner planes between sleeping and the gateway of death: real in the material’s account, graded by vibration rather than by species, and approached here with the one protection the material describes — which is not a technique.
