Shared words, different nouns: the Kybalion's seven principles under the corpus
The Kybalion's seven principles have the right words and the wrong nouns for this material. Scan them through the 2,632-record archive and the vocabulary shows a shape the Kybalion's table cannot hold: a substance called vibration that turns out to be love and density, a polarity that is a moral axis with an asymmetry, a rhythm that is local, and two principles with no trace at all.

You have probably met the table yourself: mentalism, correspondence, vibration, polarity, rhythm, cause and effect, gender. The Kybalion, by “Three Initiates”, lays them out in a row and calls them the Hermetic axioms. That is honest phrasing — seven axioms of an old school, not a claim that they belong to the corpus. But the school’s table and the corpus’s vocabulary are not the same instrument, even where they sound identical. This essay lays them beside one another, scans the seven keywords through every record, and lets the arithmetic decide which words they share and which nouns they argue over. The reader will find fewer matches than the table suggests, and one match that is much more than a match.
The method, stated once
Seven terms, one scan each. Every record in ‘static/data/archive/sessions/.json’ was read — 2,632 records — lowercased, and counted as a case-insensitive substring occurrence of the root term, not as a whole-word hit, because the material’s compound formations (vibrational, polarization, polarising*) would otherwise vanish. A count is a presence count, never a ranking. The Ra-side answers are counted separately where the distinction matters, and every scan below was re-run on 2026-10-07 against the archive as it is now stored.
The library’s reading of the method is that substring is the right choice here, because the divergence the essay argues is a divergence of nouns, not of tokens — and the material’s compounds are where most of the nouns live.
Vibration: the right word, two wrong nouns
‘vibrat’ — 456 occurrences across all 2,632 records, more than any other principle keyword. The Kybalion’s vibration is the rate at which every state of matter and mind oscillates; everything is a frequency and nothing is solid. The corpus has the word in abundance, but the substance it names is not rate: it is love, and it is density.
The record that decides the point is 13.23, and its phrasing is what the count does not show. The fourth density arrives as regular as a clock, the planetary sphere has been spiralled into a different vibrational configuration, and then Ra states the entry condition for that density:
Thus, the entry into the vibration of love, sometimes called by your people the vibration of understanding, is not effective with the present societal complex.
Two claims are packed into that sentence. The entry into the vibration of love is the entry into the fourth density — so the material’s vibration is a quality of being, not a rate of oscillation. And it is sometimes called by your people the vibration of understanding, which is the Kybalion’s vocabulary offered as a gloss on a different thing. The Kybalion can name the vibration but not what fills it.
The second noun is density. A density is a vibrational configuration: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th. The table has no place for “a vibration that is a stage”. The count of 456 is real and it is shared, and the two literatures collided over a label and passed through each other without noticing. Shared word, different noun: the material’s vibration is love and density.
The library’s own reading: where the Kybalion’s reader is told to adjust vibration and the material’s reader is told to raise the vibration of love, the work is the same and the map is not. One is an instrument dial, the other a direction of the will.
Polarity: shared word, different axis
‘polarit’ — 267 occurrences across all 2,632 records. Here the shared vocabulary is the sharpest, and that is why the divergence is worth arguing. The Kybalion’s polarity is mental duality: two poles of the same thing, and between them, not a moral question at all. Transmutation is possible because the poles are the same substance at different settings — pole is a property, not a verdict.
The material’s polarity is a moral axis, and it is asymmetrical in a way the Kybalion cannot state. The shortest record in the corpus states the asymmetry and leaves it there. 68.17:
I am Ra. The positive polarity sees love in all things. The negative polarity is clever.
The two poles are not two equally-named positions on one line. The positive pole is love itself — love in all things. The negative pole is a quality of method: cleverness. One is a substance; the other is a manner of using it. The Kybalion’s table is symmetric by construction: every positive pole has a negative. The material’s record names the positive pole as love and the negative as a manner of thought, and does not apologize for the asymmetry.
This is the record’s own observation, not the essay’s. The library’s reading is that the asymmetry is not an accident of phrasing: it is the consequence of a universe whose first distortion is free will operating on a field whose substance is love, so the negative cannot be “anti-love” in the Kybalion’s sense — it has to be love used with a certain manner of intelligence.
Polarity’s correction: the octaves refuse the table
The table assumes polarity is everywhere. The material’s record 29.10 refuses that assumption at the level of sub-logoi, and it does so in the material’s own words. The questioner asks whether the sub-logoi — the suns, the solar systems — carry a metaphysical polarity. The answer is the correction:
The polarity is not, thusly, as you understand polarity.
The library’s reading of this as the material’s own correction of the received notion: the record says plainly that polarity, as the reader understands it, does not hold at the level of planetary and sub-planetary being. The material’s polarity is a distortion introduced by interaction, specifically by the interaction of mind/body/spirit thought complexes with a planetary entity. Before that interaction there is no polarity. The table treats polarity as a property of the field; the material treats it as a byproduct of the relationship between entities and the field.
This is a narrowing of its domain, not a softening of polarity, and the narrowing is the correction. The correction has a second half: polarity is not only absent at the sub-planetary level; it is also transient at the high end. 47.5:
The positive/negative polarity is a thing which will, at the sixth level, simply become history.
The record’s phrasing is blunt: the polarity the reader is standing on is headed for the past tense — it becomes history at the sixth density. The material speaks in an illusory time continuum to give statistics of harvest, because the statistics are the only answer a third-density questioner can receive. At the sixth density the axis the reader is standing on disappears. The Kybalion’s table has no place for a principle that expires, and the material’s reader is on an axis that is real and moral and required, and which is also temporary — until sixth density.
The library’s reading: 29.10 and 47.5 together bound polarity between two octaves where it does not hold — below the planetary, and at and above the sixth — and leave the working corridor for the densities in between. That is a shape a table of seven standing principles cannot draw.
Correspondence: the corpus does its own mapping
The Kybalion’s correspondence is “as above, so below”: the microcosm mirrors the macrocosm, and the adept moves between the scales by knowing the mirror. The corpus does its own correspondence work, and it does it without borrowing the maxim.
The record 74.4 (74.4 in the live numbering, which this archive carries as 67.28 — the archive is the local store; the reference on the page is the live numbering, ’https://www.lawofone.info/s/74#4’):
“Ve Geburah” is the correspondence of Michael, of Mars, of the positive, of maleness. “Ve Gedulah” has correspondences to Jupiter, to femaleness, to the negative, to that portion of the Tree of Life concerned with Auriel. We could go forward with more and more refinements of these two entries into the archetypical mind. We could discuss color correspondences, relationships with other archetypes, and so forth.
The record’s correspondence is the archetypical mind — a map of the Logos’s own mind, not a mirror between scale and scale. The Kybalion’s maxim, “as above”, returns one hit, and it is not the maxim. 88.12:
We ask that you, who have been our friends, work with any considerations such as above discussed, not with the thought of quickly removing an unimportant detail, but, as in all ways, regard such as another opportunity to, as the adept must, be yourselves and offer that which is in and with you without pretense of any kind.
“This is not the Kybalion’s maxim” is an observation about the record, not a verdict on the work. The record is a photographer’s instruction — work with the considerations above discussed, be yourselves, offer what is in you without pretense. The maxim “as above” is absent as a formula, and the work that needs it is being done another way: through correspondences between the mind/body/spirit in microcosm and the archetypical mind/body/spirit, a vertical mapping within mind rather than a horizontal reflection between scales. The two literatures both use “correspondence”; the word is shared, and the noun is different.
The library’s reading: correspondence as a method exists in the material — the archetypical mind as refinement of the all-mind is itself a correspondence — but it is not the Kybalion’s.
Rhythm: local rhythms, one hit for the maxim
‘rhythm’ — 22 occurrences across all 2,632 records. The Kybalion’s rhythm is the pendulum swing between the poles — every action has an equal and opposite reaction of energy, every excess is compensated, the compensation restores the balance. The material’s record 13.8 states a rhythm, and it is not the pendulum:
These patterns of energy begin then to regularize their own local, shall we say, rhythms and fields of energy, thus creating dimensions and universes.
“Their own local rhythms and fields of energy” — the adjective is doing the work. The material’s rhythm is local: patterns self-regularize, and they regularize their own rhythms, in their own fields. The compensation, where it exists, is inside the pattern, not between the pattern and the universe. The Kybalion’s rhythm is a law of the field; the material’s rhythm is a habit of the local structure. The count is 22 and the single maxim “the rhythm is compensated” does not appear. The shared word is real; the principle is not.
Gender: the word that nearly does not exist
‘gender’ — 2 occurrences across all 2,632 records, in two different records: 5.2 and 59.7. Neither is what The Kybalion needs — 5.2 is the mental discipline on the completeness within self, 59.7 the pyramid’s electromagnetic effect — and neither sets up gender as the generative principle that pairs the other six. The record does not refuse gender outright: 74.4 pairs “Ve Geburah” with maleness and “Ve Gedulah” with femaleness as correspondences of positive and negative, but within the archetypical work, not as the table’s creative axis.
The Kybalion’s gender is one of seven, the principle that makes the others work. The material’s vocabulary is nearly absent here. Two words in 2,632 records, and neither in the Kybalion’s position. This is the cleanest negative of the seven: not “the material denies gender”, but “the word is not in the room in the way the table requires”.
The library’s reading: the absence is not a gap the material forgot. It is the consequence of a cosmology whose polarity is moral and which does not ground the positive/negative in male/female, so the Hermetic gender pairing has nowhere to anchor.
Cause and effect: no hit, and the word “caus-” is misleading
‘caus-’ as a decoy stem returns 0 — the literal string never appears. The word ‘cause’ does: 103 occurrences across 92 records on the Ra side of the answers, as the common verb and noun (“the cause of the illness”, “what causes this”). But ‘cause and effect’ as a phrase does not appear — 0 — and ‘mentalism’ does not appear at all. The Kybalion’s cause and effect — every cause has its effect, every effect has its cause, and the adept becomes a cause rather than an effect — is not in the vocabulary. The stem is a decoy: the word hits, the principle does not.
Mentalism: no hit, and “the all” is not mentalism
‘mentalism’ — 0 occurrences across all 2,632 records. “All is mind” — 0 occurrences. The Kybalion’s first axiom, “THE ALL IS MIND”, is not in the corpus at all. Not once.
But “the all” is in the corpus, and it must not be conflated with mentalism. ‘the all’ — 15 occurrences across the Ra-side answers, over 12 records, each a different construction: “the all-mind”, “the all-self”, “the allness of the One Creator”, “the all”, “existing in the all”. The measurement is substring “the all” on the Ra-side answers, excluding 8 false positives where “the all” begins a longer word — 7 × “allopathic” (102.19, 103.4, 104.4, 104.7, 104.18, 104.22, 64.15) and 1 × “alleviation” (10.3) — leaving 15 genuine article-plus-pronoun uses in 12 records. The phrase the Kybalion leans on is “THE ALL” — a defined term in the book’s own vocabulary. The corpus’s “the all” is the article the plus the pronoun all inside other compounds and constructions — “the all-self at the heart of the complex”, “the allness of the One Creator”. None of the 15 is “THE ALL is MIND”, and “the all of the” is 0.
The library’s reading: the corpus has “the all” as an article plus pronoun in fifteen different contexts and “THE ALL” as a proper, unknowable noun zero times. The Kybalion’s mentalism is not a close paraphrase of anything the corpus says; it is a different doctrine with the same word.
The closing contrast: a mental art, and a way of being
“True Hermetic Transmutation is a Mental Art” — mind, metals and elements transmuted “from state to state; degree to degree; condition to condition; pole to pole; vibration to vibration”. This is a technical claim: a disciplined art, performed in the mind, applied to substances. The corpus’s transmutation has no technique section. It is a way of being, and its measure is what you are, not what you can do. The material’s record 13.23 makes the point: the harvest fails because the thought-forms are scattered and the vibration of love cannot take hold. There is no method here; there is only whether the being is gathered, whether the polarity is love, whether the density is ready.
The table:
| Principle | Kybalion | Corpus |
|---|---|---|
| Mentalism | THE ALL IS MIND | 0 hits; “the all” 15 (over 12 records), a different construction |
| Correspondence | “as above, so below” | 0 hits for the maxim; 1 for “as above” and it is not the maxim; own archetypical correspondence |
| Vibration | rate of oscillation | 456; substance is love and density |
| Polarity | symmetric mental duality | 267; moral axis, asymmetrical, bounded, temporary |
| Rhythm | field compensation | 22; local self-regularization |
| Cause and effect | every effect has a cause | 0; “caus-” 0, decoy stem |
| Gender | male/female creative pair | 2; nearly absent |
Only vibration and polarity are present as the same noun; the other four arrive as decoys — a stem that hits, a phrase that returns one record which is not the maxim, a word that nearly does not exist. And the two that are present carry a correction the table cannot hold.
The library’s reading is that the table is not wrong. It is a different instrument, made for a different question. The Kybalion asks how to work upon the world; the corpus asks who you are when you are found. “True Hermetic Transmutation is a Mental Art” — and the material would answer that transmutation is what happens when you are love, and the art is that there is no art to it but to be. The work begins when the reader stops expecting the table to map onto the record.
