The practice, in this site's own words
Enough of it to begin, or to understand why this community will not teach it. The session references are named so a reader can check them.
What it is
The dream is the mind complex’s own territory: its fabric, its vocabulary, its synthesis of the day. Whether a dream becomes lucid — whether you know you are dreaming while it holds — matters less than whether the dream is retained at all. A vivid dream that evaporates has done its work without you.
This is where the ordinary genre of dream work parts company with what the material supplies. There is no symbol dictionary in the Ra Contact and no authority that will interpret your night for you. The reason is structural: the dream is your mind teaching itself, and a vocabulary handed in from outside replaces the teaching with a secondhand account of it.
The one discipline the material gives
Asked about dreams, the material gives one instruction and no exegesis: the discipline of recording the dream immediately on awakening, before moving, before the mind has room to reorganise what it was doing. The method is taught at 86.10 and its plainness is its seriousness — the dream is received by a mind lying still, so the move is to meet it there, not through a later reconstruction.
Lucidity follows the standing rule of the other disciplines rather than announcing itself as an exception. You notice what recurs; you keep the account; the dream becomes the mind’s own material to be worked with rather than an anecdote told to it. What a repeated image means is a question your mind has already begun to answer by repeating the image.
Dreaming and the planes
Between dreaming and astral travel the community keeps a distinction the material supports plainly: the dream is the mind complex at home, and the astral is a bridge between conditions. The realms are not one blended territory, and not everything that arrives dressed as a message is one. Our essay on astral work is the account of that boundary and of the one thing that guards it.
If you want one thing to start with, start with the notebook. The practice is unglamorous and complete: write it down before you move, then look, over weeks, at what the writing makes plain. Interpretation belongs to the same mind that produced the dream, and it comes last, not first.
What it is not
Not an identity, and not a sign of progress. A reader who never becomes lucid is not behind a reader who does, and the material has no interest in the comparison. What is asked for is contact with the mind’s own work, and the gateway to that is the recall discipline, not the phenomenon.
Not a personal healing service either: a dream that keeps returning with the same weight belongs, at some point, in a conversation with a human being who can help you hold it — and this community, by its own charter, holds sessions rather than conducts them.
The material, in its own words
From the verified record, so a reader can check the page's claims against the source instead of trusting the page.
This faculty may be learned by virtue of a discipline of the recording immediately upon awakening of each and every detail which can be recalled.
Where it does work in this library
1 essay carry this teaching, in the order a reader should meet them.
Write it down before you move
The Ra Contact says comparatively little about dreams. What it does say is a method rather than a meaning, and it is the least glamorous instruction in the library.

The other practices
Meditation
The one practice the material returns to across every density and every question: silence that can be kept at will, and the self examination that makes the silence worth keeping.
Astral projection
The astral is the inner planes between sleeping and the gateway of death: real in the material’s account, graded by vibration rather than by species, and approached here with the one protection the material describes — which is not a technique.
