Library Map
Where the material agrees, where it corrects, where it refuses
The library reasons with fourteen outside frameworks and teaches nine practices, and each one has now been read long enough to be compared rather than merely linked. This is that comparison, across all twenty-three, in one table. A row that says the material refuses something is more informative than a row that says it agrees politely — and all 23 of these rows carry one, though not at the same weight.
How to read the three columns
They are three different outcomes, not three strengths of the same one. Collapsing them would misrepresent the library, in both directions.
Column one
Where it agrees
Where the two accounts converge, and on what. Several of these correspondences are exact rather than merely adjacent — a will that is strong without effort is wuwei arrived at from a different direction, and a complex with an existence simultaneous with creation is not the same claim twice. A row that says the material agrees is saying something, not being polite.
Column two
Where it is corrected
Where the material parts company — and, deliberately, the limit of the claim being corrected, where the entry's own teaching names one. A limit is what a reader can act on and a grievance is not, so it is often the most useful thing in the row. Where the two genuinely conflict the cell names the conflict rather than presenting two tasteful options, and where this library takes a side the cell says so and says the judgment is the library's.
Column three
Where the material refuses
What the material declines to grant, and what this community declines to do. This is a real category and it is not a decoration: all 23 of these twenty-three rows carry one, and the count is derived rather than asserted, so a row cannot quietly stop being a refusal. The weight varies. Two are refusals of the practice itself — magical workings and astral projection, where the territory is described and the method is not handed over. Three are refusals of a claim: ceremonial magic’s unfalsifiable top, Daoism’s indifference to what is chosen, and Christianity’s assertion about who came. The rest are smaller and named, and a row with nothing here would say so in as many words.
The twenty-three, at a glance
The table is a reference surface, and a reference surface a reader cannot navigate is a wall. This is the index: every name, what kind of thing it is, and how much of this library stands behind it.

The frameworks
{FRAMEWORK_COUNT_WORD} outside maps a reader may already be holding. Read the third column first on the three the material openly disputes — Daoism, Stoicism and Christianity.
| Entry | Where it agrees | Where it is corrected | Where the material refuses |
|---|---|---|---|
| Integral theory a meta-theory — a framework of frameworks 11 essays | A density is a whole condition of experience, not a stage of knowing, and integral’s stages happen inside the third density rather than alongside it. Integral also makes testable what the material leaves open: which distortions come before the rational mind and which come after it, which are not the same achievement. | Integral describes development and declines to say what development is for. The material’s centre is a choice of polarity and a service, and it names the choice of polarity as the thing that matters. A reader using both should know which of the two they are asking for an answer. | The labelling machine. The material says nothing whatever about anyone else’s position and treats the measurement of another person’s condition as nobody’s business — so integral used to rank people has stopped being a map. (19.18) |
| Mystical Kabbalah a tradition 8 essays | The correspondence is real at the base and the material states it. Ra begins the work of balancing with the Malkuth, or Earth, vibratory energy complex and names it as the red-ray one. The tree’s lowest station is the material’s first ray, by name. (15.12) | Asked directly whether the stations map onto the densities, with Malkuth as one, Yesod as two, and so on, Ra calls it basically incorrect while saying the questioner is on the correct track of thinking — each station carries a complex shading of energy centres and takes part in several balances, the lower, the middle, the high, and the total. A reader who maps them one to one misreads both systems. (44.14) | The Middle Pillar practice is refused flat: asked whether the adept visualises light rising from the feet through the centres in order, the answer is a flat no. What is described instead, at 73.7, is a working whose stations are invocations, everything drawn through the violet centre — not a current run upward. Whatever the tree is doing there, it is not conducting anything from the feet. |
| Advaita Vedanta a tradition 14 essays | Both accounts say the self as ordinarily experienced is a construction, and both reach it by subtraction rather than by argument — whatever can be observed is not the observer. At 15.14 the material makes the understanding, experiencing, accepting and merging of self the path to the heart of self, which is the same move made on the other side of a different vocabulary. | On the origin they part. Maya is unchosen and has no beginning; the veil is made, on purpose, as the condition of a choice that could not otherwise be free — the concept of finity is discerned because of the freedom of will of awareness. (13.12) The more useful difference is the aim: Advaita aims at recognition now, and the material treats the understanding of self as the path rather than the conclusion. | The material will not let recognition become a way of not doing anything. A difficulty in a life described as maya, a duty declined as dualistic, a daily review left unkept because in the realised view there is nothing to review — the recognition that says nothing needs doing is answering a question the development side never asked. |
| Developmental psychology a body of research 7 essays | Very little, and that is worth stating plainly. The material makes no claims about childhood, schooling or cognitive structure, and its densities are not developmental stages within a life. The research is here for one job: a second vocabulary for the material’s own claim that some distortions come before the rational mind and some after it, which makes the pre/trans distinction testable rather than rhetorical. | The limit runs in both directions, and 15.9 is why: a balanced individual is one in whom each energy centre is balanced and functioning brightly and fully, which is a statement about a person’s inner condition and not a score anyone else can assign. The material’s development is not measured from outside. The two vocabularies do different jobs. | The theory forbids what the material forbids — reading anyone else’s position, including as a courtesy to their own self-description. And the sub-octave reading of the stages is this site’s synthesis, named as such: neither the measured research nor the material states it, and the material’s own harvest condition (14.14) gives it a test rather than a decoration. |
| Buddhist practice a tradition 8 essays | Both accounts say the self as ordinarily experienced is a construction, and both make the friction of expectation precise rather than treating it as a mood: grasping at what changes produces a specific and predictable friction. On method the traditions disagree with each other; on the failure mode they speak with one voice. | The analysis declines to find an owner and stops there. The material speaks of an individuated portion of the Creator with an existence simultaneous with that of creation, not dependent upon any physical vehicle, which is needed in order to evolve, change, learn and manifest. (105.16) This library reads the no-owner analysis as the sharpest available description of the lower floors and the complex as the claim about what the building is for. That judgment is ours and is not a shrug. | Emptiness read as indifference. The material would recognise the type immediately: the choice of polarity is what the third density is for, and a person who declines to choose has made a choice. A dissolved self also fails the material’s own test — see 19.18 on the truly helpless. |
| Subtle-energy practice a discipline 15 essays | Asked with the familiar esoteric list — physical, etheric, emotional, astral, mental — Ra answers with a different cut: seven bodies keyed to the rays, the red-ray body the chemical body and not the one you wear. The sheaths of Vedanta and the dantian work of the internal arts describe real grades of the descent; the rays name the same grades by function. (47.8) | The correspondence is of function and not of names, and the material says so in the same answer that gives the seven: one may name a subtle body one thing and another find a different name. Where the questioner supplied the word chakra, the phrase is the reader’s own, used for the reader’s benefit — the word is taken without the system. (17.44) | Not a way to accumulate power or phenomena, and not interchangeable with the rays: a trained structure is not a balanced green ray, which the material describes as a review of a life done in the mind. And the method is refused at the root — at 15.13 it is asked whether exercises may be published, and the answer is that each seeker must be allowed to enlighten itself, or the exchange becomes an imbalance in free will. |
| Stoicism a tradition 2 essays | Both make the operations of the mind the primary object of work and refuse to confuse a life with its circumstances. The material’s own sentence at 4.19 is very nearly Stoic: to reach an undistorted understanding of the Law, it is not necessary to heal or to show any manifestation at all, only to exercise the disciplines of understanding. The will is the mechanism of change in both. (66.14) | The wall, and it is the single place a serious philosophy goes soft. At 1.10 the material says the distinction between yourself and others is not one it sees, and at 17.2 that it is impossible to help another being directly. A discipline whose only good cannot be falsified by any outcome has stopped being a test of a person — a practice that cannot fail is a temperament, not a discipline. That judgment is the library’s. | Acceptance taken blind, and the settled disposition. At 82.3 the term efficiency has misleading connotations here, and the architrave has to be in place before the structure is built: the distortions of the self must be known before the self that carries them can be accepted. And at 19.18 the further polarized a being is, the more easily its polarity may be changed — a settled order has no counterpart in the material. |
| Daoism a tradition 2 essays | The strongest correspondence is exact and not a popular one. At 47.7 a will that has fully crystallised will not splinter, is very strong without effort, and is radiant — read as a description of a developed being, that is wuwei arrived at from a completely different direction. At 15.13 the refusal to let a messenger teach in language, on the ground of an imbalance in free will, is the Daoist position stated by a corpus whose whole argument is against the school. | One word, and it is the one the material cannot drop. The Daodejing’s first chapter is the One spending itself into multiplicity without anyone choosing; the material puts the origin in a decision, the concept of finity discerned because of the freedom of will of awareness. (13.12) Both traditions put wilful self-gratification in the same place — 27.12 calls love the focus and the choice of attack — and both call it the corruption. The Daodejing will not tell you what to choose, and holds that the telling is the problem. | This is the library’s sharpest stated objection to a tradition it otherwise agrees with, and it is not a soft one. The Daoist account has no origin for a disposition: ziran describes how the sage acts and is silent on why this one rather than another. The material supplies an origin and pays for it by putting free will at the foundation. At 19.18 it names the condition the Daoist answer produces: the truly helpless are those who have not consciously chosen and who repeat patterns without knowing that they are repeating them or what the pattern means. The library takes the material’s side — and states the limit of its own judgment, which is that the Daoist is the only one of the two accounts indifferent to what you choose, and that indifference is the answer to a question the material has never asked. |
| Christianity a tradition 2 essays | One Greek word inherited rather than invented, and the closest correspondence is structural rather than verbal: the pouring out. At 13.12 the intelligent infinity invests itself in an exploration of many-ness, and at 13.13 each portion created an universe, channelling the love/light into intelligent energy and so producing what the material calls the natural laws of any particular universe. Two accounts in which the one empties itself outward, in which what is produced is real, and in which the emptying is the cost of the contact. | The material ranks its own three principles and puts the Logos second, calling it a distortion. (15.21) The Christian claim is that the Logos is God, of one essence with the Father, and that this one became a human being. Nothing in one can be admitted as the other. This library holds the Christian answer, on the material’s own reasoning, to be a distortion at the second level — with free will still sitting underneath it, unfalsified and untouched. The judgment is ours and it costs a reader something to hold. | What the material will not do is claim authority, and that is the sharpest difference of all. It declines to choose the questions (3.6) and to publish the exercises (15.13), and at 1.5 it names its own failure: the priests and peoples of that era quickly distorted the message, and when there were no longer appropriate channels through which to enunciate the Law, the group removed itself from a hypocritical position. A text whose founder can say that is in a different position from a text whose founder cannot. The argument is about a claim, and no reader here is asked to leave anything. |
| Sufism a tradition 2 essays | The vocabulary is not shared, and the entry says so first: the contact does not contain the terms, and a page that reported a conversation between the two on shared terminology would be reporting one that has not happened. The correspondences are structural. Love is the mechanism of creation in both — at 15.21 the second principle is the Logos, the Creative Principle or Love, and at 27.12 love is the focus and the choice of attack. And at 105.16 the complex persists, on which the tradition’s own scholarship agrees: Akbari Sufism does not treat personal selfhood as an illusion. | Fana fails the material’s own test. A self whose selfhood has been dissolved has no polarity left to change, and at 19.18 the further polarized a being is, the more readily its polarity may be changed — so the two claims are not compatible. The material’s own answer is not dissolution either: at 33.20 the compassion learned in the fourth density is blended into wisdom in the fifth, and wisdom is carried back into an understanding of compassion in the sixth. Each term survives, carried forward in the other. That is a construction rather than an evasion. | The hedge in 2.2 must not be tightened, because it is the material’s own and it is doing the work: the one known as Muhammad delivered the peoples into a more intelligible distortion of mind/body/spirit relationships. Not truth, and not a more accurate account — a more intelligible distortion, which is still a distortion. Read plainly, the same sentence places the founder of Islam and Aten-worship in one sequence by one verb, and the material thereby places its own origin inside the Egyptian priestly tradition it has just called a distortion. A material that tells its own story this way has no standing whatever to adjudicate the spiritual history of a world religion, and this library does not think that request can be met by anyone. |
| Bhakti a tradition 3 essays | The heart is the place, and there is a real mechanism in it. At 15.12 the centre of heart, the green ray, is named as the centre from which third-density beings may springboard towards infinite intelligence, and at 15.9 love creating light streams into the planetary sphere through points of ingress. A tradition in which love is a located capacity with an anatomy is not the tradition of the devotional poets. The practice, too: at 5.2, find the patience in your mind and you must consciously find the corresponding impatience — the twelfth chapter’s litany of dispositions as a method. | Whether love is enough, which is the one sentence the disagreement turns on. At 85.16 it may take many, many essays into compassion before true universal love is the product of the attempted opening and crystallisation of the green-ray springboard centre, and the balancing of a manifested love is not automatically a movement from compassion to wisdom — love and wisdom are faces of the same coin, not a sequence. The tradition states its list as the price of entry; the material states the list as the thing being produced. On this library’s reading the material has the better argument. | What the tradition has not drawn. At 15.13 the material declines to publish the exercises, on the stated ground that each seeker must be allowed to enlighten itself. A devotional tradition with five hundred years of hymnals and devotional manuals has generally not drawn that conclusion, and the refusal is worth reading as a limit rather than as a courtesy. The corollary is refused too: the graded offer that places worship above work above renunciation is the devotional position, and the library holds it to be the more graceful, because it does not claim the devotee has arrived. |
| Karma yoga a tradition 3 essays | The third chapter’s condemnation of the self-concentrated man and 7.15 are one mechanism rather than two: an effort involving power over others weakens and eventually disintegrates what it collects, and service to others results in service to self. And 42.7 refuses a naively higher service — to a starving complex the appropriate response is the feeding of the body — which is the chapter’s own hard line, not an echo of it. | Not indifference to outcomes, but the manner of the effort. The damage is in the doing, not in the getting, and the material says so at 7.15. And the material’s account of karma is a third thing: the words do not occur, there is no agent keeping a ledger and no sentence handed down, and what there is instead is a vocabulary of catalyst, polarity, balance and choice. Consequences without a law. The Gita holds a genuine causal law and the work is to act inside it without grasping what it produces. | The mechanism, and its cost. At 34.5, asked whether a being that has developed a karma will be given catalyst to reach forgiveness and so alleviate it, the answer is that this is in general correct — both the self and any other involved may at any time ameliorate these patterns, and one who has set an action in motion may forgive itself and never again make that error, which also brakes what is called karma. Nothing is owed and nothing is given: the break in the pattern is made by the same being that made it. A system whose only lever is a decision, and a decision is the one thing no one else can do for you, ends where it began. |
| Hermetic ceremonial magic a tradition 8 essays | The material names the order and calls it a formidable system of service and discipline, without enthusiasm and without disparagement, and then describes a working in the tradition’s own sequence and its own six items — including that because no talisman or apparel was available, the gesture made was appropriate. The deepest claim is the tradition’s own: at 75.36 the magical personality invoked is the self’s own Higher Self, so the whole apparatus is the configuration of one person. (73.7) | The interior critique, delivered in the tradition’s own terms. At 71.18 a list of six mechanical rules of white magic is read out and asked about, and the answer declines to comment on it at all, on the grounds that to do so would be to play the mechanic who views the instruments of the orchestra and adjusts and tunes them. These are mechanical details, and the art does not lie in them. The tradition’s careful arrangement of shapes and colours is a technology, and the technology is what does the work. | The unfalsifiable top, and the corpus’s own unresolved conflict. Three grades reserved to Secret Chiefs, a succession in the 1920s that could not be adjudicated from inside and had to be settled in court, and the only evidence the word of the people claiming the office — against 15.13, where a messenger teaching in language would make it both teacher and taught. The Secret Chiefs are the same offer with the refusal removed. And the material does not resolve its own contradiction: at 51.6 careful and repeated rituals around a death are refused in favour of the presence of other people and their praising, while at 72.2 the banishing is of effect. Both are in the record; no rule is given for choosing between them. |
| The psychology of belief a body of research 2 essays | The material’s account of its own method is expectancy plus sustained attention, and it is the most defensible account of that mechanism anyone has given. The gate at 79.5 is the closest the material comes to an instrument, and it is a test of honesty rather than of capability: the practice demands the most rigorous honesty, and no one should proceed while in doubt. Expectancy research predicts exactly this fragility. | The gate works and the research explains the physics, and this library says the instrument is still the better of the two. What the record supports is that a practice can be genuinely transformative in a person’s life and that the mechanism it produces is not the mechanism it claims for itself. It does not support therefore-nothing-is-happening, and the reason is quantitative: the effect is small, confined largely to what the patient reports, and measurable across a hundred and thirty trials. | What the record cannot do. No instrument in this literature can distinguish a rite that alters the world from a rite that alters the practitioner, because nothing in the design has an external referent — so a null result is not evidence of absence, and a practitioner reasoning from the null result is reasoning from the edge of what the instrument can see. It is not a place to grade anybody: at 15.9 the balanced individual is a person’s own description of an inner condition, not a score anyone else assigns. |

Two accounts in which the one empties itself outward, in which what is produced is real, and in which the emptying is the cost of the contact.
Corrected
The material ranks its own three principles and puts the Logos second, calling it a distortion. (15.21) The Christian claim is that the Logos is God, of one essence with the Father, and that this one became a human being. Nothing in one can be admitted as the other. This library holds the Christian answer, on the material’s own reasoning, to be a distortion at the second level — with free will still sitting underneath it, unfalsified and untouched. The judgment is ours and it costs a reader something to hold.
Refused
What the material will not do is claim authority, and that is the sharpest difference of all. It declines to choose the questions (3.6) and to publish the exercises (15.13), and at 1.5 it names its own failure: the priests and peoples of that era quickly distorted the message, and when there were no longer appropriate channels through which to enunciate the Law, the group removed itself from a hypocritical position. A text whose founder can say that is in a different position from a text whose founder cannot. The argument is about a claim, and no reader here is asked to leave anything.
Sufism
2 essays
a tradition
Agrees
The vocabulary is not shared, and the entry says so first: the contact does not contain the terms, and a page that reported a conversation between the two on shared terminology would be reporting one that has not happened.
Corrected
Fana fails the material’s own test. A self whose selfhood has been dissolved has no polarity left to change, and at 19.18 the further polarized a being is, the more readily its polarity may be changed — so the two claims are not compatible. The material’s own answer is not dissolution either: at 33.20 the compassion learned in the fourth density is blended into wisdom in the fifth, and wisdom is carried back into an understanding of compassion in the sixth. Each term survives, carried forward in the other. That is a construction rather than an evasion.
Refused

The heart is the place, and there is a real mechanism in it.
Corrected
Whether love is enough, which is the one sentence the disagreement turns on. At 85.16 it may take many, many essays into compassion before true universal love is the product of the attempted opening and crystallisation of the green-ray springboard centre, and the balancing of a manifested love is not automatically a movement from compassion to wisdom — love and wisdom are faces of the same coin, not a sequence. The tradition states its list as the price of entry; the material states the list as the thing being produced. On this library’s reading the material has the better argument.
Refused
What the tradition has not drawn. At 15.13 the material declines to publish the exercises, on the stated ground that each seeker must be allowed to enlighten itself. A devotional tradition with five hundred years of hymnals and devotional manuals has generally not drawn that conclusion, and the refusal is worth reading as a limit rather than as a courtesy. The corollary is refused too: the graded offer that places worship above work above renunciation is the devotional position, and the library holds it to be the more graceful, because it does not claim the devotee has arrived.

The third chapter’s condemnation of the self-concentrated man and 7.15 are one mechanism rather than two: an effort involving power over others weakens and eventually disintegrates what it collects, and service to others results in service to self. And 42.7 refuses a naively higher service — to a starving complex the appropriate response is the feeding of the body — which is the chapter’s own hard line, not an echo of it.
Corrected
Not indifference to outcomes, but the manner of the effort. The damage is in the doing, not in the getting, and the material says so at 7.15. And the material’s account of karma is a third thing: the words do not occur, there is no agent keeping a ledger and no sentence handed down, and what there is instead is a vocabulary of catalyst, polarity, balance and choice. Consequences without a law. The Gita holds a genuine causal law and the work is to act inside it without grasping what it produces.
Refused
The mechanism, and its cost. At 34.5, asked whether a being that has developed a karma will be given catalyst to reach forgiveness and so alleviate it, the answer is that this is in general correct — both the self and any other involved may at any time ameliorate these patterns, and one who has set an action in motion may forgive itself and never again make that error, which also brakes what is called karma. Nothing is owed and nothing is given: the break in the pattern is made by the same being that made it. A system whose only lever is a decision, and a decision is the one thing no one else can do for you, ends where it began.
Hermetic ceremonial magic

Agrees
The material names the order and calls it a formidable system of service and discipline, without enthusiasm and without disparagement, and then describes a working in the tradition’s own sequence and its own six items — including that because no talisman or apparel was available, the gesture made was appropriate. The deepest claim is the tradition’s own: at 75.36 the magical personality invoked is the self’s own Higher Self, so the whole apparatus is the configuration of one person. (73.7)
Corrected
The interior critique, delivered in the tradition’s own terms.
Refused
The psychology of belief

a body of research
Agrees
The material’s account of its own method is expectancy plus sustained attention, and it is the most defensible account of that mechanism anyone has given. The gate at 79.5 is the closest the material comes to an instrument, and it is a test of honesty rather than of capability: the practice demands the most rigorous honesty, and no one should proceed while in doubt. Expectancy research predicts exactly this fragility.
Corrected
The gate works and the research explains the physics, and this library says the instrument is still the better of the two. What the record supports is that a practice can be genuinely transformative in a person’s life and that the mechanism it produces is not the mechanism it claims for itself. It does not support therefore-nothing-is-happening, and the reason is quantitative: the effect is small, confined largely to what the patient reports, and measurable across a hundred and thirty trials.
Refused
What the record cannot do. No instrument in this literature can distinguish a rite that alters the world from a rite that alters the practitioner, because nothing in the design has an external referent — so a null result is not evidence of absence, and a practitioner reasoning from the null result is reasoning from the edge of what the instrument can see. It is not a place to grade anybody: at 15.9 the balanced individual is a person’s own description of an inner condition, not a score anyone else assigns.
The practices
Nine things a person does, or is asked about and met with a principled limit. A refusal here is a practice of the same standing as the rest.
| Entry | Where it agrees | Where it is corrected | Where the material refuses |
|---|---|---|---|
| Meditation a discipline — the inner work the material asks for most often 4 essays | One answer carries the whole practice, and it is early. At 5.2 the instruction is silence at a steady state kept when required, to begin mastering mental discipline examine the self, and do not pick and choose among the attributes. The third part is the one most often skipped: the day’s charged moments are the material, and a sitting that accepts only the pleasant ones has refused the tool it claimed to use. | Not a state to be chased and not a technique to be graded, and not anesthesia. A stillness bought at the price of not hearing what the day said is concentration, and it comes back out with the posture. At 49.8 the two types — passive meditation and the active visualisation of the adept — are named and ranked for no one, which is itself the teaching: the question is what the mind in front of you needs now, and the answer cannot be borrowed from a list. | The method. Asked about methods constantly, the material declines almost every time to hand one over, naming the prerequisite and the shape and leaving the rest to the mind in front of it, because it is your mind. And at 4.19 the outcome is explicitly not the point: no manifestation at all is necessary, only the disciplines of understanding. |
| Lucid dreaming a training — the dream as the mind complex’s own territory 1 essay | The dream is the mind complex’s own territory, and the material supplies one discipline and no exegesis: record it immediately on awakening, before moving, every detail that can be recalled. (86.10) That plainness is its seriousness, because the dream is received by a mind lying still — the move is to meet it there, not through a later reconstruction. | Lucidity is not the measure. A reader who never becomes lucid is not behind a reader who does, and the material has no interest in the comparison. Between dreaming and astral travel the community keeps a distinction the material supports plainly — the dream is the mind complex at home, the astral is a bridge between conditions, and at 17.37 the planes are graded by vibrational nature rather than divided by species. The realms are not one blended territory. | No symbol dictionary and no authority that will interpret your night for you, and the reason is structural rather than stylistic: the dream is your mind teaching itself, and a vocabulary handed in from outside replaces the teaching with a secondhand account of it. Interpretation belongs to the same mind that produced the dream, and it comes last rather than first. |
| Astral projection a territory — described, and deliberately not taught here 4 essays | The material’s vocabulary is exact about this and the usual list is wrong. At 47.8 the lighter, life-dense body is the astral body, the green-ray one, distinguished from the etheric, which belongs to a different question. At 17.37 the planes are graded by vibrational nature rather than divided by species: the lower reaches carry thought-forms, the higher ones beings, and the line between them is not a wall. | What is met there is largely what is brought, and the genre writes as though the third kind — those who answer a call — were the ordinary one. The protection doctrine is the prior discipline and not a shield clipped to the outside of it: at 77.6 there is no necessity for negative thought-forms, and their elimination is held in the one who eliminates them. The work is done on the term before it is done on the territory. | Teaching it, and this community does not. Nor will it interpret a journey, grade one, or tell a reader what the body experienced and what the imagination did — the refusal to invade the territory on another being’s behalf is the first distortion of the whole teaching, and it applies before anything enters the astral. At 15.13 the material’s own reason is given: each seeker must be allowed to enlighten itself, or the exchange becomes an imbalance in free will. |
| Magical workings a territory — what it is, and what this community will and will not do with it 12 essays | The discipline is defined rather than gestured at, and defined by its state. At 71.17 white magic is named by its effect: the heart of it is the experience of the joy of union with the Creator, which results in service to others of necessity. At 74.11 the work is threefold and performed on the personality — know yourself, accept yourself, become the Creator — and at 75.36 the mechanism is structural rather than mysterious: the self invokes its own Higher Self, so nothing is called from outside. | What the systems are, and how far they may be trusted. At 76.9 the instrument is a constructed and organised distortion of the archetypal mind — one form of it, studied in depth, as one who seeks the touchstone. At 76.6 the tarot’s twofold origin comes with uneven results: uneven, not false. And the Kabbalah correction stands beside them — the stations are not the densities, and a bent instrument is still an instrument. (44.14) | The procedure, the aggressive operations, and the grading. The tantric six-results work through a coerced relation, and the material treats free will as the one thing that cannot be taken, so this library takes the material’s side and not the squeamish one. At 15.13 exercises may not be published. And the gate is stricter than anything said about meditation, about dreaming, or about the centres: at 79.5, no one should proceed while in doubt. A working held by effort is not the working; it is a strain wearing its clothes. (47.7) |
| The written record a work — the record you make, and the return that is the harder half 1 essay | The material names the discipline exactly once, about a dream: a faculty is learned by discipline, and the trigger is immediately on awakening, every detail that can be recalled. (86.10) That is the whole of the contact’s instruction on writing anything down, anywhere, for any purpose. And the material has an account of itself as already recorded — at 4.2, the first use of the shape was recorded in the questioner’s individual memory complex, so the sessions are a record rather than a speech. | Reviewing, not recording, is where people stop, and this is the half most readers drop. Recording has a trigger; reviewing has none, nothing reminds you, and the first time you do it the material you have collected will be ten times larger than you remember writing. At 34.5 the mechanism is given and it is not about belief: what stops a repetition is a record specific enough to be recognised next time. A record edited toward your better self is picking and choosing with a pen instead of a mouth. (5.2) | Reading a reader’s record for them, and grading it. At 12.10 discernment is to be used from within, by each being, and the examiner and the examined are the same faculty — a stranger doing the examining is a different activity that happens to use your material. There is no level, and a written record is not a treatment: expressive writing has been measured raising stress rather than lowering it, and the fact that a practice is cheap, daily and private is not evidence that it helps. |
| Study a method — how a corpus is read, and what the reading is for 4 essays | Reading the pairs is the material’s own account of itself. At 13.14 it admits that it may have misperceived the query, and the transcript records the admission rather than editing it out. At 12.33 it states the cost of a channel’s drift — the contact will be gradually impaired if the drift is allowed to stand. And at 76.9 the criterion is given: investigate as one who wishes to feel the pull of the magnet, not as a dilettante. The touchstone, not the collection. | The reader’s own limit, which the material never announces and which is the more dangerous of the two. A vocabulary learned quickly produces the feeling of understanding faster than understanding arrives, and this text is close to the worst case the measured effect describes: explanatory, internally coherent, explaining its own mechanism at length, and supplying a diagram for almost every claim. The countermeasure is a notebook page per unfamiliar term in your own words, with the date you wrote it. | A method that replaces consideration with procedure. At 66.21 the concepts were given so that a reader might grow in their own knowledge of the self through the consideration of them, and it would rather listen to the observations the student makes than refine the inquiry. The output of a study method is the student’s observation, not a summary. And at 92.17 the archetypal mind does not equal the acting incarnational complex’s progression — a careful, slow, attentive read of a cosmology is exactly what produces a personal conclusion that feels better earned than it is. |
| Breath a meeting point — where the tradition's breath work and the material's own anatomy meet 4 essays | The anatomy is the tradition’s own word, used unglossed. At 15.12 the points of ingress are nexi, the plural of the Sanskrit nāḍī, and the seven are listed with the solar plexus and the pineal. The tradition’s own term contains both operations in one word: prāṇāyāma is extension and restraint together, so a practice that gives only the lengthening has given half of it, and one that gives only the holding has given the half the tradition is least likely to have meant. | The popular diagram, which is a twentieth-century synthesis presented as a received tradition — and a reader in India is being handed a foreign import about their own inheritance. At 47.8 two limits stand together: the red-ray body is the chemical body and not the body you have as clothing, and the chart is refused outright, because various teachers have offered their understanding in various terms and one may name a subtle body one thing and another find a different name. | The technique, and the material never supplies one. The only numbered list of exercises in the whole contact, at 10.14, is four attitudinal and perceptual exercises, and the breath is not among them. At 88.23 the breath is the body’s first ingress and the way an entity arrives, which is a cosmological claim and not an instruction. The reason is the material’s own, at 4.19: the group is not incarnate among the people being addressed, so it can guide and attempt to specify but cannot by example show, and that is called a handicap. |
| Sitting with others a room — other people, one passage, a clock, and the practice of attending 2 essays | The material’s argument for a group is one image rather than a syllogism. At 19.13: dealing with the self without other-selves is like living without mirrors, so the self cannot see the fruits of its beingness, and each may aid each by reflection. At 83.17 the effect is named and narrowly qualified — the doubling effect, that those of like mind who together seek will far more surely find. Like mind, not friendly. Finding, not understanding. | The company, which the material places after the work. At 43.23 fifth density is where those of like mind gather and become one in light and wisdom, and there the gathering is a solace rather than a catalyst for learning — the company of the ones you have walked with placed after the work, as comfort, and not in place of it. This is a third-density room. And what service looks like in a room is narrower than the popular version: at 17.30 the thing shared is known to the inner self, so it cannot be handed over from a chair at the front, and at 17.2 a session is not help. | The technique and the instrument, both refused for stated reasons. No guided practice at the opening, no round-the-circle reports, no progress instrument, and nobody leaves standing as the one who knows — a group that measures progress can hold a person’s development over them, which is a thing a small community can do without ever deciding to. At 12.10 discernment is to be used from within, by each being, so the room is not a place where anyone is told what a passage means for their life. |
| Ethical conduct a standard — the prohibitions, and the personality they are actually for nothing behind it | The material makes the prohibitions its test rather than its content, and it demonstrates rather than asserts. At 33.8, asked to confirm that the orientation of a mind in the moment governs the catalyst it receives, Ra declines the abstract example and substitutes a scene in a grocery store: one entity steals, another takes the same opportunity to feel itself a failure, another unconcernedly takes the least necessary items and pays for what it can, and the one behind may feel compassion or insulted or nothing at all. Nobody broke a rule. The rules were identical throughout, and the conduct was not. | A list of prohibitions is not a discipline. The discipline is know yourself, accept yourself, become the Creator, and the second step is the one nobody wants: a person who has not accepted what they are has nothing stable to hold a rule with, and will drop it the first time keeping it means being who they are. The third is said to render one transparent in personality — nowhere left to keep the discrepancy between what it professes and what it does. And at 47.7 the criterion is a will that is very strong without effort; a rule held by effort is not yet a held rule. | Grading, on a structural rather than a diplomatic ground. At 93.3, asked whether the two poles can be described more precisely, the answer is that it is quite impossible to judge the polarity of an act or an entity, just as it is impossible to judge the relative goodness of the two poles of a magnet. What is offered instead is a magnitude, not a verdict, and a reader who wants a number is asking the one source that said it cannot be given. |

Corrected
The company, which the material places after the work. At 43.23 fifth density is where those of like mind gather and become one in light and wisdom, and there the gathering is a solace rather than a catalyst for learning — the company of the ones you have walked with placed after the work, as comfort, and not in place of it. This is a third-density room. And what service looks like in a room is narrower than the popular version: at 17.30 the thing shared is known to the inner self, so it cannot be handed over from a chair at the front, and at 17.2 a session is not help.
Refused
The technique and the instrument, both refused for stated reasons. No guided practice at the opening, no round-the-circle reports, no progress instrument, and nobody leaves standing as the one who knows — a group that measures progress can hold a person’s development over them, which is a thing a small community can do without ever deciding to. At 12.10 discernment is to be used from within, by each being, so the room is not a place where anyone is told what a passage means for their life.
Ethical conduct
nothing behind it
a standard — the prohibitions, and the personality they are actually for
Agrees
The material makes the prohibitions its test rather than its content, and it demonstrates rather than asserts.
Corrected
A list of prohibitions is not a discipline. The discipline is know yourself, accept yourself, become the Creator, and the second step is the one nobody wants: a person who has not accepted what they are has nothing stable to hold a rule with, and will drop it the first time keeping it means being who they are. The third is said to render one transparent in personality — nowhere left to keep the discrepancy between what it professes and what it does. And at 47.7 the criterion is a will that is very strong without effort; a rule held by effort is not yet a held rule.
Refused
Grading, on a structural rather than a diplomatic ground. At 93.3, asked whether the two poles can be described more precisely, the answer is that it is quite impossible to judge the polarity of an act or an entity, just as it is impossible to judge the relative goodness of the two poles of a magnet. What is offered instead is a magnitude, not a verdict, and a reader who wants a number is asking the one source that said it cannot be given.
What this table does not do
It does not rank anything. Nothing here says one framework is truer than another, and the third column is not a score — it records what the material declines to grant, which is a different question from how good an entry is. Where a tradition and the material genuinely conflict, the cell says so and names the conflict; where the library takes a side, the cell says the judgment is the library's rather than the material's.
It does not grade anyone. The material forbids reading another person's position, including as a courtesy to their own self-description, and no row here is a way of doing that by other means. The essay counts say how much of this library stands behind an entry. They are not a measure of the entry, and a framework with nothing behind it reads as an empty hole rather than as a dismissal.
Every session number in these cells was read in the archive before it was written here. One is worth naming, because it is the case where the archive could not have been trusted: the passage this library's Sufism page depends on sits in session 2, answer 2, and the snapshot this site searches is truncated before it reaches that sentence. It was checked against the full session text instead, and the hedge the material puts on it — a founder of Islam described as delivering the peoples into a more intelligible distortion, which is still a distortion — is kept exactly as the source put it. And one claim is absent on purpose: the material never says time is an illusion, and no cell here says it either.
